Bio

I am Marc Sanjaume-Calvet, Assistant Professor of Political Science at Universitat Pompeu Fabra and a member of the Social and Political Theory Research Group. I have previously taught at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, served as an advisor at the Self-Government Studies Institute (Catalan Government), and conducted research at Edinburgh University, Université Laval, and Université du Québec à Montréal. I specialize in the study of federalism and self-determination, with a focus on secessionism, territorial conflicts, and governance in multi-level states. My work has been published in top-tier journals such as West European Politics, Democratization, and Nations and Nationalism. Key themes include the determinants of independence referendums, secessionist strategies in liberal democracies and environmental politics, among other topics.
